[Pilots of Ethos] A General Set of Regulations Empty [Pilots of Ethos] A General Set of Regulations

Leaders of Air Operations:

• Do not single out pilots that are performing poorly, take them aside and speak with them later.
• Do not micromanage everything a pilot is doing; give general orders for everyone to follow and ensure outlines are laid out beforehand.
• You cannot expect every pilot to know each of his tasks beforehand, reiterate them to all pilots before the operation takes place.
• Ensure your pilots (if in Liberators) have a gunner that they know is at least competent. If not, ask your pilot to use Proximity chat (numpad 4) to speak with his gunner about how to spot and other necessities.
• Do not yell if something is going poorly, someone that yells over a current situation has a hot head, and will less likely be heeded.
• Have all pilots place a PERSONAL WAYPOINT on the Warpgate so that when a RTB (return to base) is called your pilots know where to go easily.
• Have your Liberators at the head of the formation; they have heavier armor as well as health, and can take more flak than your ESF's.
• Ensure that your pilots know how to take off out of formation, and that they have proper room to maneuver without ramming one another.
• Speak with your Ground Operations via Platoon or Ventrilo with a bind set to his/her specific name.
• Communicate about incoming anti-air that your group of pilots cannot handle without ground assistance. Take no unnecessary risks. Liberators and Reavers have semi-long timers.
• You should either be gunning, or piloting a Liberator if you are lead in your Air Operations.

Pilots Following the Leader of Air Operations:

ESF (Empire Specific Fighters) Pilots:

• Do not ram your fellow pilots while in the air. This causes general chaos and bad attitudes to form. If you manage to accidentally do so, apologize.
• You need to have either Rocket Pods or the Anti-Air missiles.
• Ensure that you understand where you are meant to be by listening to the orders of the Leader of Air Operations appointed over you.
• Do not stray too far from a battlefield to chase down an easy target. By doing so, you prevent your Liberator pilots from becoming easy targets.
• When ordered, afterburn into a battlefield in order to cause confusion within your enemies, your Liberators will be ahead of you during take-off and initiation.
• When getting in formation, always stay behind the Liberators. They will lead you into a battle. Your job is to maintain their safety and take out other aircraft within your battle areas initially. If there are no aircraft present, take out Anti-Air Turrets. If there are no Anti-Air Turrets present, take out vehicles. If there are no vehicles present, take out infantry.
• Call in aircraft coming into your direction by compass, then engage with your fellow pilots.
• Use your ammo wisely, you will most likely not have any more until an RTB (Return to base) is called or other orders are given that replenish your ammunition.
• If you see a smoking Liberator, or hear a pilot requesting assistance, disregard your current target and assist your fellow pilot. No more than 2 ESF's per Liberator in this scenario. In lower population Air-Ops, only one.
• If you see an armor column incoming, report it directly to your Leader of Air Operations, a compass direction is required.

Liberator Pilots:

• Listen to the orders of the Leader of Air Operations appointed over you.
• When gathering into a formation, move slowly as to avoid hitting your fellow pilots.
• When talking with your gunner, use Proximity chat in order to discern information.
• Pre-determine your loadout by speaking with your Leader of Air Operations in case anything out of the ordinary is required.
• Your gunner should understand what spotting is, if this is not the case, ensure that he/she does by speaking with them in proximity chat.
• You should not normally have a third gunner, if this is the case, it should be a random or someone who has nothing else to go to.
• Your performance kit should be the High-G airframe. This is the most effective airframe for a Liberator.
• If you are breaking away for repairs, say your name and what you are doing. This allows your Leader of Air Operations to know how many pilots he has nearby.
• If you need assistance, let your fellow pilots know with your name, and what is happening. Call out important targets to your gunner with proximity chat, and important groups of targets in squad chat.
• Follow your orders and place a Personal Waypoint at the nearby Warpgate in order to return to base more efficiently unless otherwise directed to a local or nearby area.
• Provide steady angles to your gunners without compromising your safety.

General Aerial Orders:

• Listen to your Leader of Air Operations concerning anything related to the current operation.
• Do not stray to far from your fellow pilots unless you are returning to base (RTB).
• Know where your other pilots are and avoid hitting them. Apologize if you do.
• Understand what your formation in a landed area is. In the air, a loose formation is to be kept in order to minimize the effect of anti-air in transit.
• The general weapon for a Liberator Loadout is the Dalton, Tank Buster, and the rear gun does not matter. Your amount of players in a Liberator by Default should be 2/3.
• The general loadout for an ESF should be Composite armor, Vortek Rotary or equivalent, and Anti-Air Missiles or Rocket Pods.
• Do not fool around when called into formation.

I like it. Some good points on there for infantrymen to heed as well. Communication and following orders!

I disagree that ESFs need to have either the Rocket Pods or the A2A missiles. The Extra Afterburner fuel is amazing for a skilled ace dogfighter build (racer 3, flares II+, stealth). In general, yes, ESFs should have one of the two. But EABs can be incredibly effective tools in the right hands.

If you didn't notice this was meant for air ops, not specific dogfighting tactics.
You aren't a lone wolf, and complementing your allies is a key point in having a good op.
